Fall is here

Some think here at camp that things really slow down after summer season and we get to relax and take a break, but like most things it is not always as it seems. In the last few weeks we have had about 2000 guests come through camp. It all started with two Ladies retreats (800 guests), Seniors Retreat (40 guests), two Jr. High Exiled retreats (350 guests) a college age retreat (500 guests) and the MARBC Conference (170 guest) plus the various groups who have done single day events. It is amazing to see the amount of people that Lake Ann Camp touches. I am humbled and thankful to be a part of what God is doing in this place! Life is still hectic for the family and we, like everyone else are struggling to make family time a priority. The kids are doing well and Kristi and I are tring to be creative with the time we have together.

I had a great time last Sunday night with the youth group at Immanuel Baptist Church where we have been attending. I was asked to come speak during their Missionary Conference since I am working out at Camp this year. I spoke about thinking of our lives as a back pack and what things are we filling it with? School, cars, friends, video games, music, sports, concerts, and yeah church and God.

When I was younger I was just like that, I would take things out of my backpack for a time and then out them back. I would even pull God out of my backpack and thank him for his love for me and his forgiveness and then I would hear the rumble of a car go by and then put God back in my backpack and chase something else for a while. God doesn’t want to just be a part of our lives he wants to be our lives! Our life needs to be built around him. We need to figuratively dump out our backpack, give it to God and follow him. He will then let us fill the backpack with things that honor and glorify him.

What is in your backpack?
